What is the Free and Reduced Meal Program?
The National School Lunch/Breakfast Program is a federally subsidized program that is designed to help eligible children receive free or reduced-price meals. Families that qualify for free or reduced priced meals can confidentially participate in both the USDA Lunch and Breakfast Programs at their schools.

How do I get an application?
Free and reduced applications are mailed in August to each registered household in the district. Elementary school students will be mailed an application in the center of their menu calendar.  Middle and High school students will be mailed a yellow envelope with the application and self-addressed stamped envelope for the return of the application inside.  Meal applications are also available at all Green Bay Public Schools offices, cafeterias, and the Food Service Center. A new application must be filled out for each household each year.

What if my child was directly certified?
If your child was directly certified you do not need to file out an application. If any other school-age children in your household were not directly certified, you must complete an application for the entire household.

  • When is the application due?
Please return the completed application to any Green Bay Public Schools office. Applications can also be mailed or dropped off at the Food Service Center located at 1210 Guns Road at any time for confidential processing. The sooner the application is returned the faster the application will be processed, however you can apply at any time during the school year.

How do I fill out the application?
One application per household is needed. All directions are listed on the free and reduced meal form to assist in the filing process. We cannot approve an application that is not complete; so please be sure to fill out ALL required information. Incomplete applications will be returned to the sender.

What if I have questions on filling out the application?
If you need any assistance in filling out the free and reduced application please call your school office or the Food Service office at 391-2565. Our office hours are 7:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday.
